Activities

Activities are always planned with the children’s needs and abilities being paramount to success. We are able to offer safe guided experiences through experiential learning without being risk averse. We tailor experiences to introduce new, exciting and fulfilling opportunities for learning in a range of differing environments, specific to each child’s interests and needs, whilst promoting new activities, adventures and experiences, which in turn builds confidence and trust.

Our work focus’ primarily on ensuring children and young people feel safe and secure in their surroundings. Staff develop caring and nurturing relationships with children and young people through engagement in a wide range of opportunities. These relationships always centre heavily on trust, openness, and mutual respect.

Our approach

We carefully match children being referred to our homes, considering their age and individual needs. We can offer a place for up to two children of mixed gender at any one time in Buttermere House. We can offer a place for up to three children of mixed gender at any one time in Ireleth House ensuring compatibility is paramount whilst creating harmonious living environments that allow children to settle and thrive.

Our homes feature visual prompts throughout, used in all aspects of daily life to describe activities, menus, and organisational aspects. We also provide sensory-oriented environments with specialised items to support children who require additional sensory support.

"NWCC aim to provide every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, with the support and guidance they need according to the quality care standards."

Cultural & Religious Respect

Northwest Childcare works with families to facilitate religious observations, including attendance at weekly services, for children who wish to follow their religious beliefs. We respect dietary requirements and promote religious rituals that children wish to participate in, provided there is no significant risk of harm.

We encourage children to explore multicultural experiences, helping them understand and appreciate diversity through different foods, festivals, films and books from various cultures.
