Pete Birkby started his career working in a large 52-week residential school in the beautiful lake district in 2001, supporting young people that displayed complex and challenging behaviours. Due to his continued commitment and personal development he soon progressed to become the senior Care worker where he supported 9 young people. With further progression he became a Team Leader running staff teams of up to 35 care and medical staff, being responsible for the safety and wellbeing for up to 50 young people over 7 residential on-site homes.
Subsequent to this Pete became the Deputy Manager of a children’s home in the historic city of Lancaster, supporting children with challenging behaviours aged between 8-18 years old. In 2014 he was promoted to Registered Manager working towards and achieving some excellent Ofsted reports including two “outstanding” gradings. in 2018 his journey took him to the Fylde Coast where he opened another extremely successful home.
Pete has a wealth of experience and knowledge to offer, Pete completed his “City and Guilds” level 5 Diploma in Management for Residential Care in 2017 and Level 3 Caring for children and young people in 2005. Safer Recruitment and Designated Safeguard Lead have also been achieved.
Pete and the team are very much looking forward to supporting and guiding all the Children and Young People who attend Ireleth House, towards a happy and successful future, starting with their up-and-coming adventure at this fantastic provision in the beautiful Lake District.
